Dolph Volker, a kind-hearted volunteer at the Cheetah Experience Breeding Centre in South Africa, has developed an extraordinary friendship with a cheetah named Gabriel. Despite the fear that most of us would feel, Dolph and Gabriel formed a special bond when the cheetah was just eight months old. Let’s explore their incredible friendship!
Dolph first encountered Gabriel, a wild cheetah, at the Cheetah Experience Breeding Centre. Remarkably, Dolph and Gabriel became such close friends that Dolph now legally owns him. Even after Dolph has been away from Africa for over a year, Gabriel warmly greets him with hugs and friendly licks. Their bond is so strong that Dolph can even hand-feed Gabriel and sleep beside him throughout the night in the open.
When Dolph arrived in South Africa, his main objective was establishing a non-profit project for breeding captive cheetahs. He aims to raise cheetah cubs alongside their mothers, provide them with exercise and training to learn how to hunt, and eventually prepare them for release into the wild.
